Joey Bosa and the Los Angeles Chargers have agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $135 million, according to multiple reports.
The extension is a record for an NFL defensive player, eclipsing the five-year, $125 million deal that Myles Garrett signed with the Cleveland Browns less than two weeks ago.
ESPN was the first to report the Bosa extension, which ties the two-time Pro Bowl defensive end and 2016 NFL defensive rookie of the year to the Chargers for the next six seasons.
Bosa recorded 11.5 sacks during the 2019 season, just one sack short of his career high of 12.5 registered in 2017. Bosa was the third overall selection in the 2016 NFL draft.
